SEEN is a Copenhagen based CGI Design Studio founded by photographer Sigurd Høyen. Sigurd has worked as a photographer for more than 15 years, primarily within portraits and advertising. Combining the photographic knowledge with CGI (Computer-generated Imagery), enables SEEN to deliver outstanding high-end CGI illustrations, where creativity and aesthetics are combined based on profound technical insights. Working in the field between CGI and photography, the creation of images is taken to a completely new level. This unique approach to image making is based on a deep understanding of light, shadow, reflections and composition. The aesthetic and visual expression are crucial in our work, and we always strive to deliver nothing but the best, always paying great attention to all details, surfaces, materials, lighting and camera angles amongst others. SEEN is able to deliver modelling, product visualization, photorealistic renderings and animations.
SEEN is often early involved in the visualization and product development phase with the client, in order to give the best possible, advice in terms of the creative solutions and opportunities. Our clients can expect impartial advice about the ideal solution of a project both economically and technically, based on our great experience with both CGI and traditional photography.
WHAT WE DO
We take on modelling of any hard or soft surface, object or form. We strive to achieve the highest level of details to add to the realism in the final renders and thereby creating 100% photorealistic renderings. Most models are created in Rhino® (CAD software) for versatility and ability to output to various formats.
We utilize our photographic experience and understanding of light and shadow, shape and form, to combine the 3D models and the real-life lighting into a photorealistic image, added a creative and aesthetic touch. We create renderings from already existing 3D models as well as model we produce on our own.
3D models and rendering of products, that are not assembled or produced yet, or where you just want the versatility and freedom to change the product or packaging until the very last moment in terms of shapes, colours and materials. Based on a line drawing, we are able to create a 3D model and a photorealistic image, thereby giving a clear understanding of how the product will look like.
CGI & PHOTOGRAPHY
Combining CGI elements with traditional photography allows for completely new possibilities within the image making. We are able to combine CGI backgrounds or images with real life photography or video, to achieve images that are not possible or would be too expensive to create otherwise. Coming from a photographic background we have a deep understanding of what is needed to achieve a perfect end result. It is often advantageous to engage SEEN early in the process, based on our profound technical experience.
We can help make a 3D model of any kind of product as well as getting it ready for rapid prototyping, 3D printing or manufacturing. 3D print is constantly developing and choices of materials are becoming expanding all the time.
We have the 3D model, we have the lighting so why not make it move? Adding even a little movement can greatly enhance the way any product is perceived, be it for explanatory purposes or for pure aesthetics - video is a great way to engage the audience.
WHY USE CGI
By using CGI in the image making process a whole new set of possibilities have become available. The beforehand imaginative and impossible has become a common way to create new images and atmospheres, and thereby expanding the creative boundaries within the image making process. Atmospheres and surroundings can be created without any restrictions such as special locations, costs or weather, which often infers within traditional photography. Things that cannot be solved by traditional photography is now possible to create within CGI. By using CGI creative ideas can be realized better and often more costs efficient compared to other disciplines. Often projects are solved as a combination of CGI and traditional photography in order to obtain the wanted image. CGI simply makes it possible to create the exact image or video suited for a given project. Therefore, it is only the creativity and the creative teams that limit/restrict the outcome.
The possibilities are endless and the flexibility of iterations can make it a financial beneficial way of producing the visual basis for a product or brand. During the development phase of any kind of product, it often comes in handy to see the product in a photorealistic atmosphere, and this is exactly what CGI offers. See your product in 3D before it is even produced, which optimizes both the design and development process to sales and marketing. In many ways, CGI has become very competitive compared to traditional photography thanks to the technological development. Many elements can be re-used, and compared to traditional photography several costs can be avoided such as location, production, travel costs and set building.
CGI can be an advantageous way of creating the absolute right image or product, based on the opportunity to make iterations in the development process. In this process, an idea often changes and develops many times, before the final product is settled. CGI gives the possibility to make iterations just up until the final manufacturing. Shooting days depending on the perfect location is no longer an issue – we can simply create the atmosphere, location or set that is needed and even keep costs down. Backgrounds, colours and lighting can be changed until the right look has been created for the client, without creating real life set-ups for all ideas.
Timing is often a crucial parameter for our clients. Often product visualization is used in order to prepare and produce branding and sales material, even before the product actually exists. CGI gives the possibility to show customers products in a photorealistic environment and at the same time making them salable. Our clients are no longer dependent on the factories production time before the sales material can be completed.
